8U Academy Registration
Our 8U Academy will be scheduled on Wednesday evenings (Rink 2) from 5:15-6:15 PM beginning on September 11th (before the regular season begins). The goal of this elevated, 24-week program is to prepare our older 8U players to play at the 10U rep level next season, excel at the 10U house level and/or be returning advanced players in our 8U Division the following season. We do this by offering an additional weeknight evening session of ice time where these birth years can continue practicing and playing with top end caliber players. Advanced skating, skills, reps, and small area games will be emphasized. Space is limited to 40 players.
Dates: Sessions will begin on Wednesday, September 11th and run weekly through March 11th (no sessions on Nov. 27, Dec. 25 or Jan. 1). Academy pant shells, as well as our annual Candy Cane Classic and an additional Away tournament, are included in the registration fee. *Please note that 8U players must be registered in Spokane Youth Hockey’s regular season programming to be able to register for the Academy.
Prerequisites: Open to 2011 and 2012 birth years currently enrolled in the 2019-20 Spokane Youth Hockey 8U Season Programming who have played at least one prior season of hockey. For more information, please review our House/Select Division Programming and New Player Guide
We want to make this process as easy as possible for our existing and new Spokane Youth Hockey families! Don’t hesitate to contact our Business Manager and Registrar, Nicole Adams, with any questions or concerns about this registration. We will respond to all emails within 24 hours.
Player Jersey Number
If you are a returning Spokane Youth Hockey player, your jersey number has been assigned per the SAYHA Jersey Number policy.
If your current jersey number falls outside of the even/odd birth year requirements, you would like to change your jersey number or you are new to Spokane Youth Hockey, please contact our office (firstname.lastname@example.org) to discuss options.
Academy Volunteer Responsibilities
8U Academy management is the responsibility of all members of the program. Each family registered with SAYHA will be responsible for volunteering a minimum of three hours during the hockey season. Please indicate below how your family intends to volunteer with the program this season.
Sponsorship and Fundraising Opportunities! Spokane Youth Hockey is currently seeking new House and Rep Division sponsors for our teams. If any member secures a new team sponsorship, the Association will credit the member’s family 10% of the sponsorship received! Rep and House Division Team Sponsorship opportunities are available for $500, $750 and $1,000. If you, your workplace or someone you know would like to sponsor a Spokane Youth Hockey team, please click the Team Fundraising/Sponsorship box below and we will be in touch! This is a great way to earn money off of your player’s Select Team bill!
