News and Announcements
The December Board Meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 11th at 6 PM in the SAYHA Office.
Dear USA Hockey members and parents,
The U.S. Center for SafeSport Youth Athlete Training courses are now live! These resources include courses for children of pre-school age; grades K-2; grades 3-5; middle school and high school. These free online trainings are designed as an introduction for minor athletes and their parents or other caregivers to understand the importance of positive, welcoming environments in sports, where misconduct like bullying or abuse is less likely to happen, and to know where to report abuse, should it occur.
Each course can be found HERE and requires that a parent/legal guardian create an account to provide consent for their child to access the training. Once an account is created, parents can choose which course is best for their child based on their actual or developmental age. Each course will take less than 30 minutes to complete. A writeable PDF certificate is available at the conclusion of each training, and parents are encouraged to write their child’s name on the printed certificate. These courses are not required but are available as a resource. Courses are available for the following age groups:
NOTE: USA Hockey is not recording or tracking these other training courses below in our database for reports or rosters. You will not receive credit for these courses.
ALL ATHLETES WHO WILL BE 17 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER BEFORE DECEMBER 31, 2019, WILL STILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE 90 MINUTE ADULT CORE SAFESPORT TRAINING, AS FURTHER DESCRIBED IN USA HOCKEY’S SAFESPORT PROGRAM HANDBOOK. THE YOUTH ATHLETE TRAINING COURSES DO NOT REPLACE THAT CORE TRAINING AND WILL NOT QUALIFY AS MEETING THAT REQUIREMENT.
The U.S. Center for SafeSport has developed additional interactive, educational resources to help create a culture of safety and respect in any sports program. These resources have been made possible through the support of The Foundation for Global Sports Development.
Thank you again for all of your efforts in support of the safety of participants in USA Hockey programs.
We’re looking forward to the start of our House Division season with our upcoming Rate Skate (October 5-6, 2019). The schedule for both days can be found here (and under “Schedules” here on our website).
